The Lightning Birds are transformations which appear in the Angry Birds series. It is an alternate state of The Blues, achieved by passing through a wormhole.

Personality

The Blues have always been a hyperactive bunch, but their excitement reached to new heights when they blasted into space. They were difficult enough to control on Earth. - Now there's an entire galaxy of Space Piggies to pop. Nervous hogs watch the skies, scared that a lightning bolt from The Blues might be on its way.

Game Appearances

Angry Birds Space

The Lightning Blues first appeared in Pig Bang 1-8 in Angry Birds Space, with the same ability that they had in the original game, though they are now charged with electricity (though this does not do much). When they hit a surface, they have an electric shock, though this does not actually do anything, and is merely just for show. The Blues are also commonly placed after Ice Bird, due to their compatibility with destroying ice/glass. Their launch noise and corpse noises are just modified versions of their original. Angry Birds Reloaded

The Lighting Blues made their debut in the Space chapter of Angry Birds Reloaded. Their ability and their first appearance are now identical to their appearance in Angry Birds Space.

Angry Birds Space Origins Short Movie

The Blues, along with the other birds, were looking after the Eggs, until Ice Bird came through a wormhole and crash landed in front of them. The Blues were alarmed of Ice Bird's behavior, but even more so when a mechanical claw came and grabbed not only the Eggsteroids, but the Eggs as well. Furious about this heist, The birds went through the wormhole, transforming The Blues into the Lightning Blues!

Trivia

• Their masks are a reference to DC Comics' Flash (especially the current, Barry Allen incarnation).
• Originally, each of the Blues was supposed to based off of an individual superhero. One of them dressed up like Marvel Comic's Wolverine, while the other two were based off of DC Comics' Batman and Robin.
• Their launch and corpse noise would be reused in Angry Birds Star Wars for the Blue Squadron.
