Balloons first appeared in the Angry Birds level Danger Above 6-13, then later in Seasons and Rio. After that, it appears in Angry Birds 2 with different shapes.
In Bad Piggies, red balloons are used as items for Ross to use. When attached to a wooden box (even when Ross is inside it), it will gain weight, not going up, even fast.
They are also seen in their respective episodes Bad Piggies and Red's Mighty Feathers, where they can be tied with ropes, metal cables or black wire-like lines. They are similarly popped on impact with most objects, as are other balloons; there is also a variant made of purple rubber, as well as the standard red balloon in Bad Piggies.
