Surf and Turf is an episode created first for Angry Birds Facebook, now "Angry Birds Friends" and then the app. It was released when the app was launched on February 14, 2012. The episode originally consisted of 15 levels at launch, but an additional 30 levels were added, the first 15 when the app was updated on February 29, 2012, and the rest in the March 29, 2012 update. On March 20, 2012, the first 15 levels of the episode were added to the original Angry Birds app, removing its exclusivity to Facebook. In this release, it was revealed that the episode had 45 levels total. On August 2, 2012, the second 15 levels were added to the Angry Birds app, along with cutscenes to tell the story, but naturally, in a different form.

- On March 20th, 2012, Surf and Turf was released in the original Angry Birds as an unnumbered episode.
- This episode is the first new episode to allow players to use Power-Ups, however, they are not necessary to complete levels. Power-Ups are only available in the Facebook app, until a recent update came on August 2, 2012 for the mobile version of this episode. In the update, players will receive a 5 bundle for the first time using the update. A slot machine will give you 1 power up that has 3 in a row when you play any level to begin playing Angry Birds Classic each day.
- At the last part of the second cutscene of Angry Birds Friends, it shows that world 3 of Surf and Turf is going to be rainy.
- Pigs are seen relaxing and performing common beach-themed activities, such as fishing.
- Rather than Flash animation cutscenes, this episode uses a comic book/strip-style format with still image panels telling the narrative, similar to Angry Birds Rio's cutscenes. These are currently not present on the original Angry Birds app until the newest update on August 2, 2012. The cutscenes in angry Birds Classic's Surf & Turf are just like the other 7 episodes of Angry Birds Classic instead of Angry Birds Friends's version of the cutscenes
- Unlike Angry Birds Friends which has all 45 levels, the original Angry Birds has only 30 levels, with the final 15 levels coming soon.
- This is the first episode since The Big Setup to use multiple backgrounds.
